Family Counselling

Youth Focus provides a friendly, confidential and professional counselling and support service for families who have a young person 12 – 18 years of age experiencing depression, self-harm and / or associated suicidal thoughts. Recognizing the family as an integral resource in the young person’s recovery.   Family Counsellors are trained professionals with the skills necessary to assist families in identifying strategies for dealing with family conflict and difficulties in their family life. The Family Counsellor can work exclusively with the family or in partnership with the young person’s Counsellor.

Counsellors will assist families to understand the challenges they are currently facing, help to develop practical skills and identify realistic solutions for issues such as:

  • Relationship issues
  • Family conflict
  • Negotiation
  • Coping skills
  • Communication
  • Problem solving
  • Understanding and awareness
  • Grief and loss
