New Bunbury home for Foodbank WA, Youth Focus and Financial Wellbeing Collective in Dalyellup
We are proud to be co-locating with Foodbank WA and the Financial Wellbeing Collective in a new community hub in Bunbury. The new facility will bring together food relief, youth mental health services, and financial counselling under one roof, ensuring the local community has easy access to a broad range of supports and services in a safe, and welcoming location.
Foodbank WA CEO Kate O’Hara shares, “we have continued to evolve our services to better meet the needs of people experiencing food stress. No Western Australian should go without food and in planning for this new location, we wanted to ensure we would be closer to the communities in need, easily accessible by public transport and amongst other retail.”
For Youth Focus, the co-location highlights the importance of collaboration in addressing the growing community needs, particularly for young people in the area.
“The demand for accessible youth mental health services in the region continues to grow, and by working alongside Foodbank WA and Financial Wellbeing Collective, we can ensure that we’re able to meet young people where they are, with the range of supports they need.” Shared Derry Simpson, Youth Focus CEO.
“At Youth Focus, we aim to ensure that young people are able to access the services they need, in a way that works for them. Collaboration is at the heart of our approach, and by co-locating with other community-based support organisations we can provide wrap around supports that young people are seeking, together in one place.”
This partnership highlights the importance of reducing barriers to accessing the support that young people need, encouraging help-seeking and early intervention. Through this collaboration, those seeking food relief or financial support will also have access to timely mental health services, and young people engaging with mental health support can be connected to other services in turn. There is considerable crossover between the young people accessing these services, creating an opportunity to encourage early intervention and provide support to navigate a range of challenges.
