Each year, our Albany team organises a community Mad Hatter Tea Party to celebrate Mental Health Week, bringing the community together for a day of connection and fun with mental health awareness at its heart. The tea party is a celebration, but it aims to work towards destigmatising mental health, and reclaiming the word “Mad” is a big part of that.

This year, the community turnout was strong, with a diverse mix of people coming together to enjoy the activities and sunshine. We loved seeing locals chatting with stall holders, enjoying the sunshine and participating in the range of activities on offer.

Our team organised a number of activities for the day, including face painting and bubble-blowing, creating a fun, relaxed space where no one felt any pressure or expectation. As always, the cupcakes handed out were a hit!

Events like these are a chance for young people and families to connect with local services in a fun and informal way. Our team always loves meeting new people and building authentic relationships with the community and other local organisations.

A big thank you to the Albany team for their efforts in bringing the day to life, and for the Albany community for bringing enthusiasm and energy to the day. We look forward to another Mad Hatter Tea Party again next year.
