Trekking for youth mental health

In August, eight leaders from the mining sector will participate in Miner V Wild 2026 to raise awareness and funds for young people experiencing mental health challenges.

Youth Focus is proud to be the beneficiary of the annual event.

Since 2024, more than $230,000 has been raised for Youth Focus to help us support young people through our Work and Study and Mentoring programs.

“We are so grateful to again be involved in Miner V Wild. The willingness of industry leaders to step outside their comfort zone and use their influence is inspiring, and it is very evident that youth mental health matters deeply to them,” said Derry Simpson, Youth Focus CEO.

“With the support of Miner V Wild this year, we’ll be able to provide counselling to more young people.

“The research is clear – being able to access mental health support and services early can make all the difference,” she said.

“With the rise in mental health issues and suicide, if Miner V Wild can help prevent one family from going through that trauma, then that’s a win for us, and a win for the mining industry,” said Bud O’Shannessy, LiveMine Managing Director

The group will arrive in the Kimberley on Thursday 20 August to begin the five-day trek.
