As the football season wraps up for another year, so does Ahead of the Game. We have loved connecting with local football clubs across WA over the past 6 months. The interactive workshops use sport to teach young players how to talk about mental health, exploring practical tools that help young people face challenges both on and off the field.
By meeting young footballers in an environment they feel comfortable, and bringing it all back to something they love and understand, the workshops encourage players to think about how they can support their own and their teammates’ mental health – throughout the footy season and beyond.
The Metro and South West team were busy across the season, holding 14 sessions with junior teams in Harvey, Brunswick Leschnault and the Bussleton Magpies.
We look forward to connecting with clubs again next season! Ahead of the Game is a joint initiative between the AFL and Movember.
