Building a new approach to youth mental health services in WA
We’re creating Perth’s first Youth Mental Health Hub to make it easier for young people in WA to get the support they need, when they need it.
Reaching out for help can feel like a big step, and for many young people and their families, getting support for their mental health isn’t always easy. It can be confusing, costly and time-consuming to know what help is available, and how to access it.
Our Youth Mental Health Hub aims to change that.
Located centrally at 28 Troode Street, West Perth, young people will be able to access a range of services, all under one roof.
We know that different challenges are often connected, so we will look at what’s happening for that young person, and bring the right people and services together to provide wrap-around, coordinated support.
As well as offering young people our free, evidence-based mental health services like counselling, work and study support, and group therapy, we’ll connect young people with other support services they might need, and provide access to on-site medical care.
Our Youth Mental Health Hub isn’t just about services – it’s about creating a space where young people feel comfortable, respected, and heard. We’ve worked with young people and their families to design a space that reflects what is important to them, and how they want services to be delivered.
Building works are underway and we can’t wait to open Perth’s Youth Mental Health Hub later this year.
About Youth Focus’ Perth Youth Mental Health Hub
Young people aged between 12 and 25 years will be able to access:
- Mental health care
- Physical health services
- Counselling and group therapy
- Work and study support
- Ongoing support tailored to their needs
The building features:
- Private waiting rooms for young people and their families
- Counselling rooms
- Clinical spaces
- Dedicated telehealth spaces
- Collaboration areas
- Office accommodation for other service providers
