Responsive Support for Communities & Schools

We work with schools and communities when a major event happens that might impact a young person’s mental health, such as an accident, natural disaster or suspected death by suicide. The research shows that for every death by suicide, about 135 people are directly impacted (family, friends, professionals, peers, responders, community). That’s why we aim to provide timely and personal support to those impacted, when and where they need it, so they can get back to living their lives sooner.

How we can help

When a major incident occurs in a school or community, we work hard to offer increased support in the weeks and months following, ensuring those impacted have the opportunity to talk about how they are feeling and how we might be able to help.

Most commonly, this looks like a counselling session with one of our qualified and registered Youth Counsellors where we can work to help them manage the distress and disruption that often follows a major event. We will also work alongside schools, communities and other service providers to ensure there is a collaborative approach to care and support.
