On May 17, the Our Place Perth team was joined by staff from headspace Midland and the City of Swan to celebrate IDAHOBIT.
The aim was to raise awareness and engage in discussions with young people from the LGBTIQA+ community, to better understand what it truly means to be a safe and inclusive organisation.
Sadly, the LGBTIQA+ community continues to face inequality, experience harassment, abuse, stigma and discrimination, which has resulted in disproportionate rates of ill mental health among the queer community.
As an organisation, we are committed to creating safe and inclusive spaces for young people and colleagues. This includes raising awareness for the work that is still needed to combat discrimination against the LGBTIQA+ community.
