Youth Focus Meekatharra used Youth Week and the Solar Eclipse as the perfect opportunity to engage and inspire young people to learn more about science and astronomy, whilst also providing a fun and exciting way to celebrate their talents and creativity.
WA witnessed a rare celestial event on April 20 – a total solar eclipse, with Meeka in prime position to view 77% eclipse. The team turned a two-hour astronomical event into a day of fun in the shadows and sunshine with art, fun games and food!
Everyone was reminded to not look directly at the sun and provided with protective glasses to view the eclipse.
