Focus Plus is a program of Youth Focus, accessed through the Medicare system, which provides bulk-billed psychological counselling to young people aged 12-25 years eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan.
Youth Focus clinicians are registered psychologists who specialise in youth mental health and suicide prevention. The service is available through Youth Focus sites at Joondalup, Burswood, Rockingham, and Mandurah.
Psychological services offered by Youth Focus Plus clinicians include:
• Psychological counselling
• Motivational interviewing
• Relaxation strategies
• Social skills training
• Interpersonal psychotherapy
• Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
General practitioners wishing to refer to Youth Focus Plus will need to provide a Mental Health Care Plan that can be sent directly to Youth Focus here.
Upon receiving the Plan, Youth Focus will contact the young person to initiate an appointment. Should the young person require additional services outside of the 10 Medicare counselling sessions, Focus Plus clinicians can provide three extra no-fee appointments.
