Sharing lived experiences is an important part of mental health recovery, and is the foundation of our Group-based Therapy Program.
Providing safe and supportive opportunities for young people.
Group-based therapy provides opportunities for young people to engage in therapeutic activities with other young people in a safe and supportive environment.
The purpose is to provide our current clients with a safe and supportive peer-based environment to practice some of the strategies and skills they have learnt in the counselling room, as well as develop and challenge social skills through connecting with peers and community members.
The young person may enhance existing or develop new skills of trust, self-esteem, better communication, coping strategies, conflict resolution and connecting with others.
Any young person who is engaged with Youth Focus counselling services can access groups by speaking to their counsellor.
